Hit for 6

Mounting Instructions

The "Hit for 6" steel bracket can be mounted on an existing masonry wall (bricks) or an existing vertical wooden pole which is part of an existing structure (e.g. a pergola). If mounting on a wooden pole, it needs to be of solid nature (preferably hardwood) and is capable of withstanding the amount of force placed on the bracket when "Hit for 6" is being used. Do not mount it on any rotting timber as this will cause the bracket to break away from its mounted position while "Hit for 6" is being used.

Ensure that the mounting position is away from any foot traffic pathways and is not posing a danger to anyone. Steps:

• Determine where you are going to mount "Hit for 6" ensuring you pay particular attention to Installation notes above;
• Remove all parts from the plastic packaging ensuring you have all the parts listed below;
• Mounting position should be:
  • 180cm (1800mm) from the ground;
  • Bracket should be pointing outwards from the wall or pole (as per illustration on left hand side);
  • While holding the steel bracket against the wall or pole in the position you want to mount it, mark all 4 screw holes with a pencil or other marking tool. Ensure that steel bracket is square (even) and that the flexible rod holder is pointing straight down.
• If mounting on masonry (brick wall):
  • Pre-drill the 4 holes using a 8mm diameter masonry drill bit with a masonry hammer drill;
  • Drill all holes to a depth of 50mm;
  • Place the plastic plugs into the four holes and push them in all the way in, until it is flush with the wall surface;
  • Then go to step 6.
• If mounting on Wooden Pole (existing structure):
  • Discard the 4 Ram Plugs (you do not need them);
  • Ensure the pole or structure is of significant strength and large enough for mounting the bracket;
  • Pre-drill the holes using a 4mm diameter drill bit;
  • Drill the hole to a depth of 40mm.
• While holding up the black steel bracket against the holes already drilled, align the holes on the bracket and proceed to screw the screws in place.
• You are now ready to place the rod & ball into the bracket.
  • Loosen the knob on the bracket sufficiently so that you may slide the rod into the pipe;
  • Slide the rod through the pipe until the ball is approximately 30cm from the ground;
  • Tighten knob to secure the rod in place. This should be tight enough so that the rod will not slide up or down while "Hit for 6" is being used.
  • To re-adjust rod height for different skill levels, simply loosen knob and adjust it accordingly - longer for beginners, shorter for established batters.
